Govah Steps: Incentivizing Low-Carbon Mobility Through Walking Rewards

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Govah today announced the launch of Govah Steps, a major sustainability initiative designed to reduce carbon emissions by incentivizing walking for short-distance urban trips. The program integrates a 'Walk-to-Earn' model directly into the Govah ecosystem, rewarding users for choosing low-carbon mobility options.

The initiative is a core component of Govah's 'Green Corridor' strategy, aiming to significantly reduce the production of carbon dioxide by traditional combustion engine vehicles in high-traffic metropolitan areas.

Combating Carbon Emissions

Urban vehicles are responsible for a significant percentage of CO2 production in African cities. By encouraging 'micro-mobility'—walking for distances under 2 kilometers—Govah Steps aims to remove thousands of short-haul vehicle trips from the road every month.

"Our goal is to make walking the most rewarding way to move for short distances," said Dolphas X Sithole, CEO of Govah. "Every step taken on the Govah Steps program is a step toward a cleaner African sky. We are not just building a transport network; we are building a movement that values the health of our planet as much as the convenience of our users."

How Govah Steps Works

The program uses advanced motion-sensing technology and GPS verification through the Govah App to track and validate walking trips:

"Sustainability shouldn't be a sacrifice; it should be a reward. Govah Steps makes the green choice the obvious choice."

Govah Steps will be a key highlight of the sustainability pavilion at the upcoming Govah Press Conference.
